As the only road leading to the Caucasus mountain region of Tusheti, Georgia, closes for 7 months of winter, a handful of holdouts remain.
When Gocha, an eccentric painter from Western Georgia, hitches a ride in on a military helicopter, he unsettles the community, especially Irakli, the 83-year-old doctor and keeper of tradition. As an outsider, Gocha holds up a mirror to them, stirring up old loyalties, wounded pride, and disagreements about what Tusheti can become.
With each passing winter, fewer people remain. In a community this small, each loss resonates, raising the question of who will replace them when they're gone.
